Harvest Time
Harvest time
is the most awaited moment in the mountains. People are gathering the fruits of
their labor. Buy-buy or tiger grass is the main livelihood in the mountain of
La Union. People harvest them and transform them to brooms to be
sold in the market. Farmers in the country side have really tough but joyful
life. Tough because the harvest is only once a year so the products are
not enough to subsidize their food for one year.
However mountain people or
Igorots ( that’s how they called us) are very diligent. Some plant vegetables to add
some income; some do carpentry jobs, others drive and some work in
restaurants to help the family provide basic necessities.
It rained heavily for two days; thus, many farmers have to harvest quickly to salvage some of the tiger grass. The building of our church roof was then postponed. WE pray now that God will give our church members good health, great harvest, and perseverance so we can finally continue our church construction after harvest time.
We will pray the Lord for more clement weather and that your members may be blessed with good health.
