A Glimpse of our Church Planting Site

A Glimpse of our Church Planting Site By Jordan Palangyos Our church planting site is in Wallayan and Delles, La Union, Philippines, a two-hour trip from my home. I live in Baguio City, Philippines (a former American Base). From home, I have to travel by taxi to go to the bus station. I ride a bus and transfer to a tricycle when we reach town center. From the town center, we ride a tricycle to reach our church planting site. The Town center A tricycle The challenge is that the road going to our mission station is not along a jeepney line. No public transport goes there due to its far-flung location. We have to hire a car to go there. The most affordable mode of transportation is a tricycle. Sometimes, the tricycle drivers do not want to transport us because of the difficulty going up in the mountains. ...

Kapangan - Faith Comes From Hearing

Judah Palangyos arranged my safe travel and stay for a few days in Kapangan. "For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure." Philippians 2:13 Upon my arrival in Kapangan I was greeted by his energetic and compassionate mother. I had been suffering from a stomach virus and hadn't been able to eat much food for about a week. Mrs. Palangyos had many fun stories and curiosity to share with me. She is also a very good cook, going out of her way to find foods I could intake and aid in my recovery from the stomach virus. Judah arranged my speaking at the Kapangan Central High School for opening ceremony in front of the entire student body, 400+ students. Carabao

Pastor Palangyos titled the blog Lutheran Cowboys Philippines because of our admiration for traditional country music and our farming backgrounds. American traditional country music is popular in the Philippines' highlands where much of our current mission efforts are. Our logo, designed by Rovi Estrada , consists of a cowboy riding a carabao. Carabao (water ox), the symbol of hard work, patience, strength and considered by many to be the national animal of the Philippines has been used by man in numerous accounts of recorded history in the Philippines. The Murillo Velarde Map published in 1734 depicts the carabao as an integral part of the Filipino life used as a domesticated animal in the fields and as a means of transportation similar to horses and camels.
