Mission during Pandemic

Mission during Pandemic This pandemic changed the world and introduced many changes. It may be very difficult for some to adjust to the new normal specially that the number of new COVID 19 positive cases are rising day by day specially in our city. Most places here in the Philippines have been under lockdowns for five months already; thus, the difficulty for mobility and company bankruptcies. Most companies like bus companies, malls, restaurants, schools and others have suffered much and the fear of economic recession is escalating every day. Churches are closed and church activities are cancelled. Mission works are halted as well. I cannot go to the mountains due to lock downs. However, God is still good. He indeed works in mysterious ways. Churches may be closed and my mission in the mountains may be temporarily halted but some families in my neighborhood here in the city have opened their houses for us to study God’s word. This pandemic closed some doors but it also op...

BAPTISM AFTER SEMINAR

BAPTISM AFTER SEMINAR God is amazing and wonderful for the mission is alive and moving. One whole family and six individuals decided to have their Baptism last Sunday. Other believers will follow on the 27 th this month. The pandemic and other problems cannot stop God’s Word; problems could slow us down but it can never stop the wisdom and power of God. He always gives inspiration and lessons for His followers to sharpen their arsenals to combat the hindrance in proclaiming God’s salvation. Thank you for the support and prayers of friends and other believers who longed that the Gospel can penetrate in the hearts of people. Saan latta sumardeng isuna tapno dagiti Saona ket agbunga ken ado nga tattao ti manglukat ti puso da tapno sumrek isuna. Jesus Loves the little Children

Opening a congregation is tough and challenging especially if working as an independent missionary. Plans, strategies and resources must be done carefully. I am so blessed to have a wife who really supports me in doing mission work. Our work started when an unknown guy invited us to visit in their place. A mountainous area for we have to travel more than an hour to reach the place. It is tough in the beginning for only 3 to 4 adults are coming to listen and attend worship. I am so disappointed and wanted to quit and look for a place more receptive to the Gospel. One Sunday my family went to serve together with my two kids; to our surprise 11 little children are sitting and waiting for us that Sunday. We are stunned and asked who sent them? One little girl answered— "Our grandmother (the most dedicated woman in that place) told us to come and listen to the Word of God." I cannot believe my ears; God really works in mysterious ways. God used these little childr...

Christian Counsel of Brett Meyer

Psalm 1 King James Version (KJV) 1 Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. 2 But his delight is in the law of the Lord ; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. 3 And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. 4 The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away. 5 Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous. 6 For the Lord knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish. Christian Counsel of Brett Meyer: Dear UOJ Fanatics, Many of you complain loudly--behind closed doors and in secret emails--about the disgusting, embarrassing, and anti-Christian antics of your group. I j...

God, Our Roof in the Storm of Life

God, Our Roof in the Storm of Life Despite some petty problems, mission was doing great and was going smoothly before the Pandemic. However, when the pandemic hit us, all the works had to be stopped including the construction of our small chapel. A lot of our plans had to be reevaluated and reconsidered. But one thing is constant: we hold on to our faith. With different COVID variants every now and then, check points are becoming tighter and tighter. It came to a point that I was sent back many times because of this virus. I already lost hope because one of our layman is sick and cannot continue to do missions anymore. Evangelist Talban is the last man standing in the mountain without any help but God’s work is amazing. The members decided to work as a team to finish the roof. Materials were already purchased before the pandemic. All they have to do is work together to build the roof. Much is still to be done and to be purchased such as steel doors, steel windo...

We're going to the Golden Gate

Salvation given by His blood, Victory in Golgotha, The promise that was spoken, Now, His Spirit is among us, Leading us to our mansions, We'll soon ride in a golden chariot, Taking us to the golden gate, The sin of man was defeated, Evil failed to his mission, Soon will have our perfection, Soon will enter paradise, We'll soon ride in a golden chariot, Taking us to the golden gate, All the sickness of the world, All will be crumpled and be trashed, He had fulfilled the promise, Heaven is in our grasp, We'll soon ride in a golden chariot, Taking us to the golden gate. Poem by Judah Palangyos - Philippines Lutheran Missionary Judah(yellow hair)

The Baptism of Children by Emanuel Greenwald

Do children have a right under the Gospel to Church-membership by Baptism? 1 The Church-membership of children was directly instituted and positively commanded by the Lord himself as far back as the time of Abraham, in a covenant made with him, called expressly the Gospel, or covenant of grace, which Church-membership was not only not revoked by Jesus Christ, but was confirmed and established by him. 2 Children are included in the promise connected with that covenant. 3 Children are included in Christ’s invitation, and declared to he fit subjects for the New Testament Church or kingdom. 4 Children are included in Christ’s original command commissioning and authorizing his ministers to administer the Sacrament of Baptism. 5 Children are the lambs of Christ’s flock, as their parents are the sheep of his fold, and, therefore, their relation both to the Shepherd and to the flock forbids that they should be excluded from the fold. 6 Children were included in the host of the...
